Jeff, this is not a typical
"smoke letter." All the above comments were unsolicited, and made by business
associates that I highly regard. Our experience with two previous lenders on
this project was less than pleasant. How refreshing to have someone make a
committment and then proceed to do exactly, as they promised.
My
friends and business associates were amazed at how quickly Scripps
Investments: 1. Wired the funds into escrow 2 days and 4 hours after our
initial meeting. 2. Opened the office on Saturday so that I could sign loan
documents, and had the full staff and attorney available. 3. Closed escrow
and recorded on the fifth business day from our initial meeting! 4. Did all
the above cheerfully as if we've done business for 20 years.
Jeff, there
aren't many people or institutions around who could come up with a $5 million
dollar loan and close the deal the way you did. We would have lost the majority
of our profits with the other lender, now we will be in control of the
development and our profits.
You have my highest recommendation, and if
you ever have a "Doubting Thomas" come around, please don't hesitate to give me a
call.

Dear Jeff,
I never know how to begin a thank you letter to someone who has been so instrumental in affecting the welfare of my family and me, but I guess the best bet is start with thank you.
I addition to making attractive investments available to me, you then top yourself by sending Dorrie and me a beautiful gift basket of goodies, just for referring another investor to you. I guess the old cliché of “you really shouldn’t have,” applies here, and it would be appropriate…but in truth you really once again proved what I tell others about you all the time – namely, that you are a very special and decent person.
And that leads me to the last thought: you are in every sense of the word, a real “mensch.” When I think of all the people I’ve met since moving to California over fifteen years ago, you certainly rank at the top of the list of the best of them.
